Nancy M. Crawford

Nancy M. Crawford, nee Brickley, 88, of Waterloo, died Sept. 27, in Waterloo.

She was born June 19, 1930, in Ebensburg, Pa, daughter of the late parents Fred and Freida Brickely (nee Evans).

She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Hecker, Home and Community Extension, and Red Bud Senior Circle.

She is survived by her children Gary (Janice) Crawford and Deborah (Brant) Klippert; grandchildren Daniel (Tiffany) Hallows, Randy Kirsch, Kimberly Kirsch (Ron Dunlap) and David (Meghan) Kirsch; great-grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Martino, Nicholas Martino, Kelsi Paige, Brayden Hallows, Austin Hallows, Adyson Hallows, Calvin Kirsch, Alyssa Kirsch and Lyndon Kirsch; and special family members David and Sheri Markham, Davey Markham and Dr. Michael (I-Fei) Markham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell G. Crawford, parents, sisters-in law and brothers-in-law.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Oct. 2,  at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo, and 9-10 a.m. Oct. 3, at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hecker.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Oct. 3, at the church, Pastor Ivan Horn officiating.

Interment will follow at Hecker City Cemetery, Hecker.

As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Human Support Services or Monroe County House of Neighborly Service.

Jean C. Jost

Jean C. Jost (nee Voris), 94, of Waterloo, died Sept. 27, 2018, in Waterloo. 

She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in St. Louis, daughter of the late Bryant B. and Myrtle M. Voris (nee Mitchell).

She was married to Dr. Russel W. Jost; he preceded her in death March 8, 2007.

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, where she was a member of the Bell Choir and Chancellor Choir.

She was also a member of the Red Bud Hospital Auxiliary and she was a former co-owner of the Waterloo Republic-Times.

She is survived by her children Bryan R. Jost, Marguerite (Marvin) Donius and Alice Jost (fiancé Keith Haider); grandchildren Lisa (Chris) Burton, Emily Jost and Eric (Heather) Jost; great-grandchildren Ella, Tessa, Aiden, Noah and Emma; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Robert (Dorothy “Pat”) Voris.

A memorial visitation is 1-3 p.m. Oct. 7, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.

A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Oct. 7, at the church, Pastor Michael Southcombe officiating.

Samuel Robert Perkins

Carrie and Andy Perkins of Starkville, Miss., announce the birth of their son Samuel Robert.

He was born July 20, 2018, at 10:12 a.m., at Oktibbeha County Hospital, Starkville, Miss. He weighed 9 pounds and was 21 inches long.

He was welcomed home by his big brothers Joseph, 7, Eli, 5, and Alex, 2.

His maternal grandparents are Judy and Edward AuBuchon. Paternal grandparents are Margot and the late Rickie Perkins.

Candace Marie Gaines of Waterloo and Lucas Tanner Curten of Red Bud were married Sept. 9, 2018, in Red Bud.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mark Gaines of Little Rock, Ark., and Cretia Gaines of Waterloo; and the granddaughter of Don Clark and the late Madolyn Clark of Waterloo, and Larry Gaines of Longview, Texas, and Millie Gaines of Little Rock, Ark. She is a 2018 graduate of Waterloo High School. 

The bridegroom’s parents are Matt and Kris Curten of Red Bud; and the grandson of the late Toby and Karen Curten of Modoc, and Ken and Judy Bowlin of Chester. He is a 2018 graduate of Red Bud High School.

Gennifer M. Appel and Joseph W. Luberda of Maeystown were married Sept. 8, at Mason’s inMaeystown, Pastor Steven Theiss officiating.

The bride is the daughter of  Jeffrey and Ginger Crank of Millstadt, who gave her in marriage, and Tim Appel of Dupo.

The groom is the son of Joseph L. Luberda of Baldwin.

The matron of honor was Lindsay Naes. Bridesmaids were Rachel Agnew and Stephanie Townsend. Graycie Luberda, daughter of the bride and groom, was the flower girl.

The best man was Chad Melliere. Groomsmen were  Kelly Sparrow and Mitch Inskeep. Bohdon Luberda, son of the bride and groom, and Connor Crank, brother of the bride, were the ring bearers.

Guests were seated by Jeff Luberda and Daniel Mesch.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Columbia High School and a 2013 graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She is employed as  a quality specialist for Children’s Home and Aid.

The groom is a 2001 graduate of Red Bud High School. He is employed in the retail industry. 

A reception was held at Mason’s in Maeystown.

James L. Scheibe, 80, of Waterloo, Illinois, died October 4, 2018, in Waterloo, IL. He was born March 15, 1938, in Valmeyer, IL.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette Scheibe (nee Steppig); brother Alvin (Violet) Scheibe; sister-in-law Betty (Mark) Heitman; 2 very Special Ladies Shelly (Jim) O’Day and Gayle (Larry) Cahoon; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his parents Alvin W. and Otilda (nee Koch) Scheibe; brother Gary Lee Scheibe; & sister Bonnie Wall.
He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church; US Army Veteran. At his request his body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Lawrence Andrew Wynn Sr. 86 of Waterloo, IL., formerly of Cahokia, IL., born on August 20, 1932 in St. Louis, MO., passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Oak Hill in Waterloo, IL.
Larry was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, he is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, IL., a former member of Camp Jackson Fire Dept. for over 35 years., he retired from A.O. Smith “Towers Automotive”, IBEW, and a former member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Cahokia, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernard F. Wynn and Elizabeth Louise Wynn Rosengren, nee Haberkorn; his step-father, Hans Rosengren Sr.; a sister, Nita Alt; his In-laws, George and Thelma, nee Whitten, Pingleton; and two brothers-in-law, Carl and Max Pingleton; and a grandson, Alexander Starbuck.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Georgia Mae, nee Pingleton, Wynn, whom he married on December 24, 1953 at Gethesmane Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO; his children, Susan (Alan) Starbuck of Waterloo, IL., Lawrence “Andy” (Vickie) Wynn II of Waterloo, IL., and Jeffrey (Debbie) Wynn of Fults, IL.; two brothers, Hans Rosengren of St. Louis, MO. and Paul (Mary) Wynn of Fenton, MO; two sisters-in-law, Freda (George) Weber of Eureka, MO and Christine Pingleton; a sister, Sallie (Norval) Fender brother-in-law, Don Pingleton both of Alton, MO. Grandchildren, Lawrence “Drew” (Crystal) Wynn III, Paul (Stephanie) Wynn, Lindsey (Justin) Braun, Ryan Starbuck, Breanna (Nathan) Koen, Great grandchildren, Lawrence “Andrew” Wynn IV., Audrey and Benjamin Braun, Dylan, Zachary & Joseph Koen.

Patricia J. Waterman

Patricia J. Waterman (nee Marchildon), 86, of Waterloo, died Oct. 10, 2018, in St. Louis.

She was born March 1, 1932, in Cario, daughter of the late Clement and Joe Katherine Marchildon (nee Kuykendall).

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Maeystown and First Baptist Church of Waterloo. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Red Hat Ladies. Pat was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and loved to play cards and fish, when she wasn’t cleaning her late husband Norman’s fish. Pat had a heart of gold and was a longtime volunteer. She retired from MAR Graphics.

She is survived by her children Kay Wiegand, Janis Reitz and Pamela (Donald) Muertz; daughter-in-law Karen Waterman; grandchildren Chris (Kim) Walster, Tara Reitz, Casey Swank, Samantha Muertz and Donald Muertz Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Clement Marchildon; special niece Laura (Wayne) Coleson; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Norman E. Waterman Sr.; son Norman E. Waterman Jr.; grandson Tyler L. Reitz; parents; and sister Margaret LaMarr

Robert Dale Fitzgerald | Obituary

Robert Dale Fitzgerald

Robert Dale Fitzgerald, age 87, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday evening, October 14, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 12, 1931, the son of Harry and Eva (Justice) Fitzgerald.  He married Patricia Fawn Hendricks March 19, 1952 and together they have shared 66 years of marriage.  

Bob was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was shipped out on the General Nelson M. Walker with the A Company 2nd Chemical Mortar Battalion, serving on the front lines in Daejeon from September 1950 to July 1951.  For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Korea – Korean War Service Medal and the Carbine M-2 Expert Medal.  

He retired from the City of Flora after 31 years of service, working in each department and retiring as an electric lineman.  

He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, mushroom hunting, and horseback riding with Jamie.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  

He was a member of Clan Fitzgerald, Clan Napier, Clan Rousch, Sons of the American Revolution, and a past VFW member.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia Fitzgerald of Flora; 3 daughters: Becky Murbarger, Tanya (James) Prather, and Belinda Cook, all of Flora; grandchildren: Tricia Murbarger, Kyle (Brandy) Murbarger, Jamie (Korey) Barksdale, John (Heather) Hayes, and Cassie Hall; great-grandchildren: Zoe, Sawyer,  and Landen Murbarger, Garrett Barksdale, and Matthew and Lucas Hayes; siblings: Bonnie McCracken, Tom Fitzgerald, Norma Clifton, and Harriett Erwin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law: John Murbarger; a great-grandson: Brody Barksdale; and 5 siblings: Marie Arbuckle, Harold Fitzgerald, Shirley Campo, Jerry Fitzgerald, and Donald Fitzgerald.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with Military Funeral Honors being presented at the beginning of the visitation at 5 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested to Disabled American Veterans and will be accepted through the funeral home.

Kevin F. Coyne

Kevin F. Coyne, 66, of Waterloo, raised in Cahokia, died Oct. 18, 2018, in Creve Coeur, Mo. 

He was born March 7, 1952, in St. Louis, Mo. 

Kevin was an avid bowler.

He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union, American Bowling Congress and St. Louis Bowling Association. He bowled 13 perfect 300 games.

 He graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with two Bachelor of Arts, in Political Science and History. He retired from the Fenton (Mo.) Post Office, where he worked as a customer service associate.

Kevin was a kind-hearted soul, always willing to help friends in need. A large portion of his estate will be used to establish an Endowed Scholarship to the SIUE School of Nursing in memory of his beloved mother, Emily Craddock Coyne, RN.

He is survived by his brothers Joseph Thomas (Belle) Coyne Jr. and Patrick Coyne; aunt, nephews, cousins, dear friends Debbie Wilshusen and Vickie Kowens; and his beloved collies, Cami and Parnell.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Thomas Coyne Sr. and Emily Coyne (nee Craddock); and step-mother Dorothy Coyne.

Memorial visitation is 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 25, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home, Rev. Dan Handschy officiating.

Leonard V. “Lonnie” Keim, 70, of Waterloo, died Oct. 22, 2018, in St. Louis. 

He was born Aug. 14, 1948, in Red Bud, son of the late Victor H. and Irene M. Keim (nee Nagel).

He was a former part owner of Keim Trucking in Waterloo.

He is survived by his children Jenni (Kevin) Reeves and Michelle Keim; grandchildren Kylie Keim Voss, Kiara Reeves and Cheyenne Reeves; sister Sharon (Gerald) Toennies; aunts and uncles; niece Barb Toennies; nephews Mark Toennies and Randy (Julie) Toennies; good friend Jim Tibbetts; nephew Eric Hankammer; nieces Jessica (Garrett) Leach and Erica Lundak; former brother-in-law Father Mike Coleman; former sisters-in-law Marcia Philips, Janna (Frank) Lundak, Margaret (Bob) Starke, sister Sherri Coleman and Sue (Dennis) Kane; cousins; and pets Sandy and Munchkin.

Jacqueline M. Prange

Jacqueline M. Prange, 96, of Waterloo, died Oct. 14, at Oak Hill.

She was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Prairie du Rocher, daughter of the late Lee and Barbara Aubuchon (nee Okenfuss)

She married Oliver Prange Oct. 24, 1942, in St. Louis; he preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2011.

Jackie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Jackie was a busy homemaker as well as being very involved with Oliver in the day-to-day operations of Prange’s Dairy. The dairy business included not only milking but processing the milk on the farm and delivering it door to door in the Red Bud, Ruma, Prairie du Rocher and Renault areas from 1950 to 1976.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, was a 51-year member of the Prairie du Rocher American Legion Auxiliary as well as a past president. 

She enjoyed being a Senior Companion for 25 years, retiring at age 90. She often was assigned to clients much younger than she was. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards and bingo.

She is survived by her children, Eugene (fianceé Ruth Pope) Prange of Prairie du Rocher, Sue (Bill) Kunkel of Waterloo, Betty (Dave) Gross of Red Bud, Gail (Marvin) Roy of Prairie du Rocher and Tammy (Marty Stempel) Sixon of Washingon, D.C.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister audrey Kieffer of Red Bud, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Lee, Urban, Oliver and Max Aubuchon; sisters Evelyn Aubuchon and Kathryn Laurent; and sisters- and brothers-in-law.

Visitation was Oct. 15, at Leesman Funeral Home, Red Bud.

Funeral services were Oct. 16, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Renault.

Interment followed at the church cemetery.

John T. Shrewsbury, 70, of Waterloo, died Oct. 24, 2018, in St. Louis.

He was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Altoona, Pa. 

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, past Rotary member, a retired insurance salesman, and a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Shrewsbury (nee Goeddel), whom he married Nov. 15, 1969; children Denise Shrewsbury-DeLaCruz and Laura (Andrew) Gipson; grandchildren Andrew DeLaCruz, Alex DeLaCruz, Charles Gipson and Corbin Gipson; brothers and sisters Joe (Karen) Shrewsbury, Daniel (Isabella) Shrewsbury, Marianne Smith, Constance Shrewsbury and George Shrewsbury; sister-in-law Mary Shrewsbury; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents Dr. George B. and Jane  Shrewsbury(nee Mower), stepmother Ruby Shrewsbury, twin brother James Shrewsbury, sister Kathryn Shrewsbury and brother-in-law Dennis Smith.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Oct. 28, and 9-10 a.m. Oct. 29, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 29, at the funeral home, Rev. Dan Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo.

As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to veterans organizations or the American Cancer Society.
